2009 is going to be just fine...
I am at home. It is New Year's Day. I have no headache from the night before, nor do I feel like running to the bathroom every 20 minutes. This is the first in "legal drinking age" history that I went to bed on New Years Eve before midnight! And to be quite honest, it was nice. I tried, I really tried to make it to the 12 o'clock mark, but the pillows and couch overtook me. Once again, it was nice.
I hope this new year finds everyone anxious for new beginnings and good spirit. Every year, as I am sure many of you do, I find a couple of silly resolutions to disappoint myself with. Last night I was thinking too general in ideas such as starting to work out, budget my finances better, blah blah blah. Then this morning, I came across the quote that is posted at the top of our page:
New Year's Day: Now is the accepted time to make your regular annual good resolutions. Next week you can begin paving hell with them as usual. -Mark Twain
Yes, that's about right. For me anyhow. So instead of letting myself down by not sticking to my resolutions, I found a more encouraging quote:
For last year's words belong to last year's language. And next year's words await another voice. And to make an end is to make a beginning. -T.S. Eliot
Much better.
It's been a while since the last post and there has been a bustle of events going on in our simple lives. In the weeks approaching Christmas, we took on a couple of projects to add to our stress but with much relief, they are now done and we're enjoying the results very much! Bill took it upon himself to lay down hard wood floors in our office and did a fantastic job. He is so retentive on everything being just perfect that it turned out amazing! Of course, I took the opportunity to venture into a new paint color... yellow...
He did a great job and Buster loves the way he can slide across the floor now!
I was asked to take Christmas photos for a few people for their Christmas cards and I was very happy with the way they turned out. All the sets were fun and even more fun to play with the photos afterward!

We had a wonderful Christmas. Bill and I chose to buy a gift together to eachother... a new leather living room set. Well, we originally started with the idea of a new kitchen table, but ended up with a new sectional and chair. I was later surprised with the table I had picked out as a gift from Bill's parents! It all worked out more perfect than I could have imagined! We were so excited to have my sister and her family from Seattle join us for a few days! There was A LOT of eating and a "few" bottles of wine, and the kids were greeted with a truckload of gifts! We also spent time with Bill's family with a fun get-together where we played cards, the Wii, and of course more food and wine! Bill's sister and brother were also able to come visit for a few days and we always enjoy seeing them! We had a great time and thank everyone for the beautiful cards and gifts sent our way!
Now that the holidays have passed, we're trying hard to get back into the swing of things. Bill is ready to get back on the road for ropings, I'm ready for the next week of college football, and all the while, we're trying to slow it down and relax just a little.
Winter morning sunrises can truly be a beautiful thing.
Of course, relaxing includes a friendly game of beer pong every now and again:

Confident that this is the game ball... nevermind all that Husker garb behind me. See what I have to live with!? :)
The next 8 days are going to be a challenge. I can tell already. I've been getting razzed on a daily basis about the Sooners-Gators game on Jan. 8 for the BCS National Title. I have faith in my Sooners. Their last game for the Big 12 Championship was played in Missouri against Mizzou. Naturally, OU won 62-21 :) And on top of that, they've achieved a ton of other accomplishments. OU is the highest scoring team in major college football history, they won their 3rd straigt conference crown this year and also became the 1st NCAA team to reach 60 points in 5 consecutive games in 89 years! Yes, oh yes, but there is even more my friends! On the 14th, QB Sam Bradford was named the 2008 (74th) Heisman Trophy winner and was most recently announced as the AP college football player of the year. Bradford beat out both TX Longhorns QB Colt McCoy and FL Gators QB Tim Tebow in both contests! This is making for some dangerous battle grounds in Miami for the big game as my dad thinks Tebow should be president. We'll see.
Sammy recieving the Heisman... what an animal.
Get used to it Tebow Dweebo...
Bradford: "Oh yes Tim, I will take you down..."
Wishing you all a happy new year...
May peace break into your house and may thieves come to steal your debts.
May the pockets of your jeans become a magnet of $100 bills.
May love stick to your face like Vaseline and may laughter assault your lips!
May your clothes smell of success like smoking tires and may happiness slap you across the face and may your tears be that of joy.
May the problems you had forget your home address!
In simple words . . . May 2009 be the best year of your life!
I'm sure there will be updates close to or shortly thereafter the National Title game.
BOOMER SOONER!

Hmmm, have you ever wondered bout Kelsey, i always suspected he wasnt quite right, i think some of the pictures posted here prove that. Teletubby-yeah very good. Alison i thought we were gonna be nice bout this game and Tebow and Bradford-but calling Tebow-Tweebow, i mean cmon. I dont care if they scored 60 points a game, set all kinds of records, their QB is the heisman winner, which by the way-i know Acorn was involved in that voting process-they never saw the likes of the Gators. Your boys are gonna have a rude awakening in a few days when they face Mr. Tebow -not to mention a defense that will grind Bradford into the turf. you know there has been no wager made yet but i am open to suggestions. And one more thing-how much did the Huskers have to pay to get into the Gator Bowl, they won but how did they even get a bowl game.
